Lucedale, Miss., cornerback Alonzo Lawrence, ranked No. 8 on the Press-Register's Super Southeast 120, committed to Alabama Friday afternoon at a press conference in the George County High School library. Lawrence, citing his desire to "one day play for a national championship," chose Alabama over Ole Miss, though Miami, LSU and Mississippi State also drew consideration from the 6-foot-1, 187-pounder.

"I decided to commit to the University of Alabama because of my relationship with the coaches and the players," Lawrence said after picking up a crimson Alabama hat. "They started recruiting me very early on and stuck with me throughout this process. When compared to other schools I was considering, the facilities, the coaching staff and the chance to win a national championship were too much to pass up.
