Alabama currently sits No. 4 in the Rivals' team rankings behind LSU, Ohio State and Texas. But if the right things happen on Feb. 4, the Crimson Tide could successfully defend that mythical recruiting national title.
D.J. Fluker -- perhaps you've heard of him -- is the new No. 1 prospect on our Super Seniors List. And if you want to learn how monstrously hugely gigantic he is, I suggest reading Jeff Sentell's article on Fluker. The entire thing is about how un-small the Alabama commitment is.
-- Did you know he's so big he has two middle names?
-- That he's two inches taller with more wingspan than Andre Smith?
-- That he wears jersey size 3XL and shoe size 22?
-- That he has a 46 waist and a 36 inseam?
-- That he weighed 400 pounds in eighth grade?
D.J. Fluker is large
Linebacker Petey Smith was saying he had decided to attend Alabama.
Well, Smith made it official today, committing to become the 21st expected addition to the UA signing class that should be finalized next Wednesday.
"I'm going to Alabama," Smith previously told Crimson Confidential.com. "Alabama is just a better school and that's where I want to go."
Smith is No. 112 on the Press-Register's Super Southeast 120.
LB prospect Petey Smith is now on board
Ed Stinson, a 6-foot-4, 227-pounder from South Dade High in Homestead, Fla., told coach Nick Saban that he was going to sign with Alabama on Wednesday.
Stinson is a four-star recruit from Rivals.com, which rates him as the 15th-best end in the country. Scout.com sees him as a three-star and the 39th best end. Not to be out-done, ESPNU grades him as an 80 out of 100 and the No. 23 defensive end.
Pass rusher Ed Stinson commits to Alabama
Trent Richardson's recruitment has left everybody guessing. Will he stick with his commitment to Alabama? This week, ESPN.com's recruiting guru Tom Luginbill offered this opinion on the five-star running back from Pensacola, Fla. "Everybody talks about, will he stay or will he go?" Luginbill said. "I think he stays. If he would've done it (de-committed), he would've done it by now."
Time for another Alabama recruiting bonanza-rama...
