Alabama, Saban admitted, was Offensive on Offense

Post Game Comments:

Alabama coach Nick Saban, in defending quarterback John Parker Wilson, laid plenty of blame on the Crimson Tide's offensive line. After all, Alabama gained just 89 yards rushing on 27 attempts, an average of 3.3 yards per carry. Wilson was sacked three times and punished much more than that.

"I don't think it's fair to sit here and lay it on the quarterback," Saban said. "I'm not sure that was the issue. If you can't run the football and get them blocked, that's not the quarterback's fault. When you can't pass-protect well enough to get the ball off, that's not the quarterback's fault."

Alabama center Antoine Caldwell said, "I don't think our running game is struggling at all." Bet on Saban to win the debate!

Saban said he never considered replacing Wilson with backup Greg McElroy. "I didn't think that was the issue," Saban said.

What was? Saban pointed at intensity, or specifically the Tide's lack of it on offense.
