• Freshman Safety Brandon Smith had his appendix out and will redshirt. Let's hope he isn't learning anything from Stevie Brown.
• Cory Zirbel's knee injury appears to be season-ending.
• Rodriguez said not all the mistakes put on safety Stevie Brown were necessarily his fault. Still, he said he plans to get Charles Stewart more work at the position. (Yes!)
• Seems Carlos Brown isn't real happy in his role at QB and he hasn't played RB or Slot yet this year. When asked about his role at RB? "Hey, I'm clueless. You have to talk to coach Rod about all that."
• DB Corey Addison (6-1 195) of Jacksonville, FL was in Columbia on Saturday to watch the USC/UGA football game. Addison says he is firm in his commitment to the Gamecocks and was really impressed with the defense. "I knew they were good but I didn't expect them to be that good," he said. "I'm really looking forward to playing with those guys." They give me five and I'm going to take five." Hethinks it is a good opportunity to travel. "I want to take some (visits) far away from home. Maybe an Illinois or a Michigan."
  
• Former Michigan recruit from Trotwood-Madison, Quarterback Domonick Britt is no longer with the Jackson State football team. He left this week.
